Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique is a cooperative higher education and scientific research institution whose creation was legally supported by the Order no. 122/86, of June 28th, and is recognized as a private entity of public utility.

In accordance with this legal ordinance and under the name of Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique, it started its activities on June 30th of that year, and the degrees started operating on October 16th, 1986.

This institution teaches different degrees recognized by the Ministry, counting on its own qualified teaching staff, distributed by five Departments: Law, Psychology and Education, Economics and Management, Science and Technology, and Tourism, Heritage and Culture.

UPT intends to affirm itself as a paradigm in higher education, offering innovative and interdisciplinary courses, taking advantage of the synergies of its departments. In a Europe whose concern is lifelong learning, UPT assumes itself as a University for parents and children, contributing to Portugal becoming a knowledge-based, competitive and dynamic economy, with more and better jobs and social cohesion.

UPT offers a wide and modern campus, located in the Asprela University campus, renowned for its high degree of technological innovation, in a bid that aims to provide high quality teaching to its students. The various computer labs available 24 hours a day, complemented by a wireless network on campus, allow an easy access to information, promoting the personal and scientific development of the student and enhancing student-centred teaching, since the student is the key player who builds knowledge and acquires skills. All over the campus there are several areas, in addition to the Library, where students can reflect and study, but also socialize, such as the Book Store, the fora, the canteen, the cafeterias, indoor and outdoor terraces and parking lots.
